A scribe in Ancient Egypt

Walt: write in paragraphs.
A scribe in Ancient Egypt

Today I am a scribe in Ancient Egypt . I am a  person who reads and writes for the pharaoh. I had to become a scribe because my father was one.

I started scribe school when I was only 6. My school was held in a Temple courtyard. I spent eight years studying hieroglyphs. I had to learn over 800 symbols. My desk was the floor. Papyrus was very expensive, so instead I had to write on broken pottery. I spent a lot of time remembering the hieroglyphs and symbols.

The tool I used is the reed brushes, white linen kilt, my wooden board that holds all my inks. I‘m inks by grinding coloured minerals into powder, then mixing with some liquid to apply on the papyrus easily.

My job is mainly keeping records and write and copy religious text. I live a wealthy lifestyle and highly respected everyday.
