My Reflections for Term 1

Walt: reflect on my learning.

This term has been really great. In the last week of school we did  e-asttle assessments.

For my reading results, I got 4B. I’m good at reading between the lines, and with understanding.  I am strong at working  the the  author’s purpose. My gap is reading critically. I would want to improve by reading more articles.

For my Maths results, I got 4A. I am good at algebraic equations. Also solving examples in volume and area. I’m good at solving problems with integers. I’m not really good at finding and explaining word formulas. Also share quantities in ratios.I would do more homework in these particular areas.

For my geometry and statistics, I got 4P. I did well in describing in 2D and 3D shapes objects using geometry language and knowing the symmetry and angle properties of polygons. My gaps are using grids, describing statistical data and learning translation, reflection and rotation. I would improve on doing more homework of my gaps.

In conclusion, my goal for term 2 is  go further above the National Standards.

Toy

Technology - Toys

Walt: make a toy.

My toy was an oscillating bird. The bird was out of thin cardboard such as a breakfast box or poster board. The bird is at the top of the rubber band, when it goes down it goes in a back and forth motion. My toy was the smallest one in the Room 11 class. The materials was easy to get, I just needed a cereal box , rubber band, straw and felts to colour it. My toy was really simple to make. At the end, Mr. Hendricks judged all of our toys. He picked three toys that was innovative and creative. The top three were Britney, Matthew and Mikayla.

This is my toy.

My toy’s mechanism is pulley.

Food Technology

Food Tech

Walt: to make and prepare foods from around the world.


Food Tech is awesome. I really enjoy it because our teacher Miss Heka is really excellent at teaching as well as cooking. Also making all the wonderful foods such as Eggs Benedict and Easter chocolate tart. Oh my gosh that was appetizing.  


Just this week  we made Hamburgers, it sure was yummy.



One of the most disliked food we made was the Chop suey. It tasted like sour cream and potatoes. But it was nice to make it.


I would like to learn to make sushi which is from Japan. I have not tasted sushi before.
